Today is July 24th 2017! First off today, a very special Happy Birthday wish goes out to my brother Andy! So, how did we get here so fast? I feel like I had a lot of very ambitious plans for the summer and now it is half over. I have not accomplished nearly as much this summer as I would have liked to. I have not yet set up my jam space/drum kit. I have still only had one live stream porch jam session. I have not done any live stream jam sessions in weeks. I have also not even done any video/audio recordings for YouTube in about as long. And yet, here I am, and there you are, reading the equivalent of my journal of free flowing ideas and thoughts that is The Meatty Files. So where do we go from here? I would like to say "Let's get back on track" but that does not accurately describe my current location. I am on track, just not the one that I had set out to be on. I am on the track that life has laid down in front of me. I have been working very hard to provide for and enjoy the company of my expanding family. These sorts of life events do not allow for much else in regard to side projects. Which, Meatty Okra, certainly is one. As much as I would like to pursue the noble cause of defending the rights of all to record their music. I can not do it alone, nor can I make it my main goal in life at this current juncture. As such, I am sending out this message as a sort of "call to arms."
This message goes out to any and all of you out there who read it, to all of you who have read/ or listened/watched in the past, to any of you who believe in what I am trying to accomplish here. Stand with me and show your support for the Right to Record! I am not going to lie to you, I have no idea how I will end up funding such a project or if it is even feasable or possible to do so, but that is not going to stop me from trying to do it. I want to make a non-profit, public recording studio, in or around Buffalo, NY. I want it to be a place where people can come to make their sound known regardless of their financial background. Music is about more than making money, it is about a feeling, about creating something beautiful, and being a part of something greater than ourselves. We can join together and create our own syncronized time, our own harmonies, melodies, rythyms, and ofcourse, tell our stories. If this is the kind of idea that you can see yourself standing behind, then please feel free to leave a comment to show your support. Share this post with your followers and friends! Help me spread this idea everywhere, until enough of the right people hear it. Perhaps the very person that this project needs to really get off the ground will read this because of you reposting. Perhaps that person is YOU, reading this right now. If it is, then I thank you for taking on this challenge and joining the ranks of "The Meatty Okra Project." I look forward to working with any/all of you who choose to become involved, with enough of us working together, we can change the way music is created, recorded, distributed and enjoyed. The winds of change are whistling through and there is only one thing left to do. ACT NOW! The Future is written today!
